Monday, May 5, 2025
11:45 AM – 12:15 PM ET
Location: Hall BCD
Research has demonstrated that recovery residences are associated with a variety of positive outcomes for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) including decreased substance use, reduced likelihood of return to use, lower rates of incarceration, higher income, increased employment, and improved family relationships. The inclusion of recovery residence as a formal care level in the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) fourth edition signals the potential for a new era of SUD care featuring formalized recovery residence integration. This poster examines the history, research and best practices for recovery residences along with considerations for funding strategies, oversight and quality assurance.
Learning Objectives:
Poster attendees will be able list the four National Alliance of Recovery Residence (NARR) levels of care.
Poster attendees will be able to describe recovery residence application within the two non-residential levels of the ASAM continuum of care.
Poster attendees will be able to analyze potential strategies for securing integrated recovery residence funding based on relevant CMS guidelines.
