    MP25 - How an Innovative Social Work Residency Program Supports Mental Health Clinicians' Development and Training

    In order to address challenges with workforce recruitment, retention, and clinical competency, The Jewish Board has launched an innovative Social Work Residency program designed to attract new talent, retain behavioral health providers, and advance the professional development of early career social workers. This poster will provide an overview of the Social Work Residency program, including its development, launch, structure, and benefits.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Identify patterns of behavioral health workforce shortages including specific challenges in recruitment, retention, and clinical competency that led to the development of the Social Work Residency program.
    • Define the structure and implementation of the three-year Social Work Residency program.
    • Identify methods for continuous quality improvement, key lessons learned, and advocacy with New York State government to establish sustainable funding pathways.
