This poster presentation provides an overview of the relationship between peer support services integrated within child protection and parental sobriety outcomes. This study examined the impact of Ohio START (Sobriety, Treatment, and Reducing Trauma) peer support services on parental sobriety duration at case closure. Using data from Ohio START (N = 337) and multiple linear regression analysis, the study found each additional peer support contact was associated with a nearly 4% increase in sobriety duration. These findings highlight the potential benefits of expanding peer support services to improve family outcomes and child safety.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the Impact of Peer Support: Learn how the timing and frequency of peer support services within the Ohio START model affect the duration of parental sobriety at case closure.
Evaluate the Effectiveness of Peer Support: Assess the significance of peer support contacts on improving parental sobriety and explore the potential benefits of integrating peer support into child protection services.
Advocate for Evidence-Based Practices: Discover how expanding peer support could enhance family outcomes and child safety. Understand how these findings can guide leaders in advocating for the implementation of EBPs.
