This presentation will discuss how many crisis response staff become burned out or are at risk of burnout due to the job requirements and what they face each day. This presentation will also discuss compassion fatigue and the risks that it poses to those in the crisis response field. The presentation will go over things that supervisors, companies, and staff themselves can do in order to recognize signs of burnout, recognize signs of compassion fatigue, how to prevent both, and how to bring staff/themselves back from both.

To be able to define, recognize, and understand burnout and compassion fatigue in self and others.
To be able to identify, plan for, and predict potential factors that could cause burnout or compassion fatigue.
To be able to define, list, and utilize different techniques to minimize or recover from burnout and compassion fatigue.
