TP33 - How Peers and Licensed Substance Use Disorder Staff Enhanced Opioid Use Disorder Services via a Tribal Grant

This session will present Copa's utilized of grant funding to expand our substance use services, with a focus on Opioid Use Disorder. Throughout the length of the grant, Copa focused on the roles of SUD peers in recovery while using a Harm Reduction framework, including MAT treatment, organization wide training and adoption of harm reduction, the role of social determinants of health in recovery, and linking to existing resources and following members across their recovery path. Initial outcomes and plans for expansion to our sites will be presented, including exploring challenges and areas for opportunity.

Understand how harm reduction training and strategies have a powerful and positive influence on recovery from substances.
Identify the crucial role peers play in substance use disorder recovery, as well as the crucial role of following members along the entirety of their recovery journey to increase outcomes.
Explore how to incorporate MAT treatment into existing outpatient behavioral and medical health homes.
