MHFA Forum 1 - Empowering Communities: Building Resilience Through MHFA and Dover's Initiative to Prevent Violence

The presentation will focus on Dover's unique response to the growing mental health concerns throughout our City, by discussing the strategic plan developed by a subcommittee of the Dover Mental Health Alliance Task Force, development of the first Police Social Work Unit in the state of New Hampshire, and the implementation of the aforementioned strategic plan through Dover Police Department's Social Work Unit. Data collected by the Subcommittee from Dover police, fire, hospitals, and schools revealed the extent of the increased need for mental health crisis services in the City of Dover.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to identify key components of the City of Dover’s Mental Health Crisis Services Strategic Plan and how they integrate with Mental Health First Aid.
Participants will be able to analyze and discuss the community impact of the City of Dover prioritizing Mental Health First Aid education, including outcomes and overall community well-being.
Participants will be able to explain the key features of New Hampshire's first Police Social Worker Program and analyze how MHFA is integrated into this program to enhance its effectiveness.
