Alison Paine is a dedicated mental health volunteer and advocate with over 15 years of experience. As a parent of an adult child with a mental health condition, she brings a personal perspective to her advocacy work. She is a board member of Parents to Parents, a charitable organization that creates films for parents of children with mental health conditions to aid them in the process of recovery and imparts knowledge using parent interviews mixed with interviews with mental health professionals. Zero Suicide Institute oversaw the production of our latest film "After Your Child's Suicide Attempt'. For the past eight years, Alison has led a NAMI support group for parents of suicidal children, meeting bi-weekly to provide support and guidance to those in need.
Alison is committed to continuous learning and has completed numerous courses related to mental health. She has been a NAMI facilitator for Family to Family, State Trainer and presenter for Ending the Silence, and board member of her local affiliate.
In addition to her mental health advocacy, Alison has a diverse professional background. She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Science at Lansing Community College, holds a certification in Equine Facilitated Learning, and has worked in Pesticide Registration and Field Research for DuPont. She is a devoted grandmother and practices self-care riding her horse and kayaking the beautiful lakes and rivers in Michigan.
