Dr. Kalisha Smith is the Director of the Outreach Training Institute (OTI) at Outreach, where she provides cutting-edge education in addiction and behavioral health treatment. Dr. Smith has over a decade of experience in substance use treatment, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Master Counselor in New York State.
Before joining OTI, she held leadership roles overseeing Outpatient Treatment Programs, Opioid Treatment Programs, and integrative behavioral health programs. Dr. Smith holds a Doctorate of Social Work from Simmons University, a Master of Social Work from NYU, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Lehman College. She is also an adjunct professor at Lehman College and is co-writing a book chapter on the Assessment and Treatment of Women with Substance Use Disorders.
Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Smith runs a private practice for women of color. She is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, where she currently chairs the the Mental Health Awareness Committee. She also serves as the Secretary and Marketing Committee Chair, on the board of The Darkness Rising Project, a mental health and arts non-profit that provides free therapy services and resources to people of color. Dr. Smith lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and two toddlers. She enjoys traveling and hosts annual wellness retreats for Social Workers.
