Karen R. Stewart, MD, is a board-certified adult and child/adolescent psychiatrist and a leader in the field of mental health integration. She serves as the National Clinical Lead for Collaborative Care at Kaiser Permanente and the Chief of Behavioral Health at The Southeast Permanente Medical Group.
Dr. Stewart earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and completed her residency in adult psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Emory University. She is deeply passionate about developing programs that integrate mental health services into primary care settings, reflecting her commitment to improving access to mental health care and reducing disparities for marginalized communities.
Dr. Stewart is also committed to advancing workforce development in mental health and wellness, utilizing innovative strategies to expand access to care. She strives to ensure people receive mental health care in the language they prefer, in the setting they prefer, and with clinicians who are culturally competent and aligned with their values and beliefs.
