Ava Dean currently works a contract opportunity with Hold Out The Lifeline, a nonprofit, interfaith, and interagency collaborative. Prior to that, she served the community in roles at DHEC as Statewide Infrastructure Coordinator focusing on the Statewide Diabetes Prevention Program, the National Kidney Foundation, BCBS, and 12 years at Palmetto Health in the Office of Community Services focusing on health education, promotion, and the county level Diabetes Prevention Program. She received her BSN from Lander University, a Master of Leadership for Evangelism and Discipleship from Columbia International University, and her Master of Public Health from the University of South Carolina. In addition to her professional positions, she has been blessed to be married to Scottie Dean for 30 years and with two sons, Joshua (2023 graduate now attending Presbyterian in pharmacy) and Jonathan (9th grader).
As a consultant she has been trained in ASSIST, SAFE Talk, L.E.T.S Save Lives with the AFSP, and Youth & Adult Mental Health First Aid. She recently was Certified Peer Support Specialist. It is her desire to equip the church and community with skills to keep someone safe and save a life.
