Christopher Drapeau, PhD, HSPP is a licensed psychologist and the Director of Research & Evaluation for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline administrator (Vibrant Emotional Health) where he is responsible for leading and guiding the 988 Lifeline in research and evaluation initiatives, dissemination efforts, and the development of external research collaborations. Prior to working for the 988 Lifeline, Dr. Drapeau oversaw Indiana’s suicide prevention efforts and the initial planning and implementation of Indiana's 988 and behavioral health crisis care system as the Executive Director of Prevention, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Response for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration's Division of Mental Health & Addiction (DMHA). Dr. Drapeau is a former Assistant Professor of Education and University Research Professor at Valparaiso University where he created and taught courses focused on psychological assessment, research methods, suicide prevention, and crisis assessment and intervention. He currently serves as co-chair of the International Association for Suicide Prevention's Helplines Best Practices Special Interest Group and is a Visiting Scholar in the Irsay Institute at Indiana University where he continues to publish national suicide mortality data resources and research broadly focused on the topic of suicide.
