Matthew Wilson-Leigh is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker living in Carbondale, IL. Matthew was born in Cincinatti, OH but primarily raised in North Chicago.
Matthew is experienced in both substance use and mental health in the clinical setting - after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in social work from Southern Illinois University he began employment at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Carbondale. From there he acted as a service member of AmeriCorp promoting literacy in schools. Following this he was employed at Brehm Preparatory School, a school for children with learning disabilities and differences. During his initial employment with Health Home Matthew obtained his Master’s Degree in Social Work and began to incorporate therapy and clinical practice into his engagement with clients. At the time of the pandemic Matthew was hired as a clinician within Centerstone’s Grant to Benefit Homeless Individuals – Connections. Within Connections Matthew obtained his License in Clinical Social Work and was hired as Connections Therapist, specializing in helping individual to navigate housing instability and substance use. As Connections Therapist Matthew allocated a portion of his time at Centerstone’s Recovery Transitional Housing facility the Extended Care. He was fundamental in growing the program and helping to connect individuals there with appropriate services- especially those with housing instability.
At this time Matthew supervises the rebuilding Health Home program, working to establish a standard of care statewide in Illinois. Matthew's Health Home program is funded by a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center federal grant at this time and through the health home program Centerstone is working to incorporate aspects of the grant - medical services, outreach work, psychiatric care, community support, and all relevant outpatient services.
