Biography
Richard J. Infranca
Richard Infranca is a retired Police Detective with 38 years of experience in law enforcement, with 35-years of his career serving in Colorado. Richard currently lives in the Denver-Metro area of Colorado.
Trainer Experience:
Richard has been a trainer in many skill and education programs since 1982. He has taught nationally and internationally. Richard was the state training director for a national drug prevention program. He has been a trainer in Crisis Intervention since 2003.
Mental Health Disorder and Crisis Intervention Education:
Richard Infranca was first educated in mental health disorders, personality disorders and crisis intervention in 1982 at the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit in Quantico, Virginia. Richard continued his education in mental health and disorders throughout his career. Richard has used his mental health training as a crisis negotiator for two police agencies. Later, as part of his detective duties, Richard was assigned as the risk assessment and intervention investigator for his municipality. As part of that assignment Richard used his education, training and experience to work with members of the community who were in need of mental health services. Richard was very successful in working with the police department, prosecutor offices, mental health centers and courts to keep those in need of mental health services out of the criminal justice system and into mental health services and treatment.
In 2016, after retiring from law enforcement, Richard Infranca became a MHFA instructor for one of the community mental health centers in his county. In 2018 Richard became a MHFA National Trainer for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
