Jill Ramsey, M.S., C.P.R.P. is currently an Adjunct Professor and Lead Behavioral Health Training Coordinator in the Center for Human Development at the University of Alaska Anchorage College of Heath. She holds an M.S. degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation from Rutgers University and has worked in the mental health field for more than 30 years as a clinician, direct service provider, mobile crisis team lead, program director, and advocate. Ms. Ramsey has education and experience in health services management as well as direct services to adults experiencing serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, and homelessness. Ms. Ramsey has been teaching MHFA for 13 years in Alaska as a nationally certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid in Adult, Youth, Older Adults, Higher Education, Fire/EMS, Public Safety, and Youth MHFA for Tribal Communities and Indigenous Peoples. Ramsey is an instructor of CPI’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Compassion Fatigue, Applied Suicide Skills Training (ASIST), a master trainer in Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), NAMI Postvention Suicide Prevention, and Pat Deegan’s Hearing Distressing Voices Workshops. In addition to MHFA, current projects are focused on training and support for the wellness of Alaska’s workforce affected by Empathy Strain/Compassion Fatigue and Traumatic Stress. Ms. Ramsey is also a CISM trained as a National Crisis Response Canine handler and responds to national critical incidents with her canine, Jack.
