    Over the past decade, Houston, TX, has experienced ten federally declared disasters including natural disasters and the COVID-19 Pandemic. This session will show behavioral health providers how they are uniquely positioned to be changemakers for their communities during disaster times through the lived experience of The Women's Home, a Houston-area behavioral health provider. Attendees will gain strategies to empower the individuals and communities they serve during disaster response and recovery efforts.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Explore how behavioral health providers are well situated to pivot and respond to community need during times of disaster.
    • Discuss strategies for staging disaster preparation efforts and leading staff during response and recovery phases including key legal issues to consider.
    • Acquire strategies to apply organizational strengths and harness collaborative partnerships to increase impact in disaster response/recovery efforts.
