    Traumatic experiences during military deployment, such as life-threatening situations, loss of comrades, and witnessing severe injuries and death, often have profound and lasting emotional effects. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a common condition among veterans exposed to such trauma. This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of trauma and its impact on veterans by exploring the different types of traumas, including moral injury, and prevalence rates. We will focus on development of a trauma-informed care approach, trauma-specific therapies that are evidence-based, and strategies for recovery, helping veterans regain control and begin the healing process.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Distinguish and recognize different types of traumas and understand their prevalence rates as they relate to veterans.
    • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of both Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Moral Injury, enabling participants to better support individuals.
    • Increase awareness and comprehension of the complex co-occurring symptoms faced by veterans, promoting a more empathetic and informed approach to their care and support.
    • Identify and evaluate various evidence-based treatment options specifically tailored for veterans while exploring the essential components and framework required to establish a trauma-informed care network.
