Join us for a presentation on Psychiatric Advance Directives (PADs), led by a young adult peer support professional with personal experience using a PAD and working on a mobile crisis team. The session will cover the benefits and applications of PADs, address common barriers and misconceptions, and provide practical steps for advocacy. Hear firsthand about how using a PAD improved her trust in mental health care and potentially saved her life.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will learn strategies to advocate for peers by addressing barriers to creating Psychiatric Advance Directives such as awareness, resources and trust.
Attendees will explore how Psychiatric Advance Directives can increase quality of care, improve treatment outcomes and promote autonomy through a person centered approach.
Attendees will identify opportunities to incorporate cultural competency and awareness through the use of Psychiatric Advance Directives.
