    TP31 - Recruiting, Retaining and Rewarding Peers: Essential Components in Strengthening the CCBHC Workforce

    Peers are a critical component of the behavioral health (BH) workforce, however recruitment and retention of peer support staff are not without challenges. This poster session will review how we have created a culture that develops and fosters peer support positions and will provide details about their daily work responsibilities including collaborating with clinical staff. As the literature continues to demonstrate the value peers add through their lived experience, knowledge of BH system navigation, and skills in stigma reduction, we will share positive results of peer engagement at both the client level and across our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Explore peer support services in the context of Carson City Community Counseling Center's organizational culture, including our recovery values.
    • Discuss our unique recruitment strategy for peers and the tactics utilized for long-term retention.
    • Describe the role of peers from their day-to-day work within our agency to the connections maintained with active clients beyond the walls of the organization.
    • Demonstrate the positive outputs and outcomes resulting from our commitment to building a stronger workforce through peers.
