Perinatal behavioral health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders, are leading causes of maternal mortality, yet often go undiagnosed. Kansas Connecting Communities conducted interviews with 12 perinatal providers to identify barriers to screening, revealing concerns about patient trust, screening tool appropriateness, time constraints, and a lack of resources. These findings will inform improved screening protocols and best practices to enhance maternal health outcomes.
Learning Objectives:

Identify key barriers to effective perinatal behavioral health screenings, including provider concerns about trust, screening tools, time constraints, and resources.
Explore strategies for improving screening protocols and training and implementing best practices to enhance maternal behavioral health outcomes in healthcare settings.
