    TP13 - Beyond the Test: Improving Toxicology Testing and Recovery

    Attendees will gain practical strategies for integrating empathy into the toxicology testing process to build patient trust and engagement. Participants will explore methods to identify and mitigate bias, ensuring fair and equitable treatment. Additionally, they will learn how to leverage advocacy as a tool for addressing bias and promoting systemic improvements.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Participants will discuss strategies for integrating empathy into the toxicology testing process to enhance patient trust and engagement using evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing.
    • Participants will analyze the implications of bias related to toxicology testing in treatment settings and identify strategies to mitigate bias in toxicology testing to ensure fair and equitable treatment.
    • Participants will identify and explore strategies to integrate advocacy as a skill to address, reduce and mitigate bias in toxicology testing and recovery.
