"Put your oxygen mask on first." "You can't pour from an empty cup." We hear these sayings all the time, but what are we doing to really take care of ourselves? Burnout is rampant among helpers, including MHFA instructors and coordinators. Self-care is an absolute necessity and must be intentional. In this forum, we will take a deeper dive into the science of what happens to our brains and bodies when we are stressed, the impact of burnout, how self-care helps us complete the stress-response cycle, and how to build a comprehensive and effective self-care plan.
