    G17 - Methadone State Policy: How Community Health Centers and Patient Advocates Support Change

    Methadone is highly regulated at the federal and state levels. In many cases, state methadone policies are more stringent than what federal regulations require. Recently, some states have updated their methadone regulations to more closely align with updated federal rules. This session will describe state methadone policies, how community health centers and OTPs can collaborate to improve care, and the need to include patient voices in these efforts.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Explore updated federal methadone regulations and discuss examples of how these changes can be implemented on the state level.
    • Examine one state’s experience in supporting integrated care for OTP patients.
    • Discuss the importance of engaging patients in efforts to improve methadone care.
