Sera resides in Western Massachusetts where she has been a part of the Wildflower Alliance since its visioning process began in 2005 (moving into a Director role upon funding in 2007). There, she has gained nearing two decades of experience in project oversight, grant writing, public speaking, curriculum development and training among so many other things. She also worked as lead trainer for the state’s Certified Peer Specialist program for approximately ten years, is a founding member of the Hearing Voices USA Board of Directors, a member of the Massachusetts Disability Law Center's Board of Directors and part of the advisory board to the National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma and Mental Health.
Specific accomplishments have included helping to start up two peer respites, opening community centers, co-founding the Black Movement Leaders project (www.BlackMovementLeaders.info), and publishing a variety of educational materials (including as primary author of the Peer Respite Handbook and co-authoring two book chapters on suicide). Sera has also developed a passion for filmmaking, beginning with ‘Beyond the Medical Model’ in 2013.
