Dalimarie Pérez has served as Vice President of Clinical Affairs at FHCHS (FHC) of Puerto Rico, Inc. since 2011. FHC is a specialized organization that manages mental health services with one clear goal: to improve opportunities and help people in Puerto Rico achieve a better quality of life. It is an affiliate of Universal Health Services, Inc. Prior to this, Pérez worked in the government as Deputy Administrator, second in command of the Puerto Rico Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. She also spent over a decade at a nonprofit in Rochester, New York. In Rochester, she led the largest Latino substance abuse outpatient program in upstate New York. Pérez received her doctorate degree from the clinical social work program at the Interamericana University of Puerto Rico in May 2022. Her dissertation focused on the crucial topic of The Caregiver of the Severe Mental Ill Patient. She graduated from this university with a master's degree in social work in 2013. In 1995, she earned a master's degree in public administration with a concentration in the criminal justice system. In 1990, she obtained her bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Puerto Rico. Pérez has also completed several certifications. In 2001, she received her Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor certification from the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence in Rochester, New York. In 2011, she obtained the Mental Health First Aid Instructor certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. She was the first person from Puerto Rico to obtain the certification to provide training in the U.S. territory. From 2012 to 2014, Pérez was selected to participate in the Boston University Center for Psychiatric Hospitalization's Global Leadership Institute Program. Pérez was selected to participate in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's prestigious national program, Developing Leadership in Reducing Substance Abuse, from 2000 to 2004. Through this program, she was inspired to reach a new level of creativity, passion, and commitment to substance abuse and mental health through an intensive mentoring relationship, project development, and educational and leadership development opportunities. In 1998, she participated as a fellow in the United Way of Greater Rochester's Hispanic Development Leadership Program. Pérez has also participated in numerous conferences, radio and television programs as a speaker and on the Governor's Public Policy Committees, where she has addressed a range of critical issues related to mental health, prevention, diversity, social inequities, and more.
