Joanne McNamara, JD, is a Senior Manager at CohnReznick and a member of its Healthcare Industry Practice. She assists ambulatory care providers, including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), community mental health centers (CMHCs), Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) hospitals, and public authorities, with program development, grant writing and management, regulatory and compliance assistance, and operational planning and support. Joanne provides expertise across these areas for a variety of projects, including developing competitive applications to secure funding; advising clients on federal, state, or other regulatory requirements; assisting clients in obtaining operating certificates; reviewing corporate compliance programs; developing financial feasibility and projections; and engaging in strategic and business planning efforts. Her strategic and business planning efforts have included preparation for healthcare and reimbursement reform initiatives such as the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) Program and Value-Based Payments. She also has expertise in developing and writing grant proposals for a variety of funders, including federal (HRSA BPHC, CDC, SAMHSA, etc.), state, and local agencies, as well as for private funders and foundations.
Prior to joining CohnReznick, Joanne spent several years working within the Planning and Development department of a large FQHC in New York City, where she developed an extensive background in grant writing and management, including fiscal and performance-related reporting; ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory authorities; and engaging in strategic initiatives to enhance financial sustainability. Before she focused on the healthcare industry, Joanne previously worked as an attorney within a complex commercial litigation firm, representing clients from the inception of a case through trial in state and federal court and before various government agencies. She also served on the executive editorial board of the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy, a forum for the interdisciplinary discussion of leading issues in health law, medicine, and health policy.
