Location: 113B
Private equity funding has been pouring into the mental health industry. The CCBHC model faces lobbying pressures to be open beyond nonprofit organizations. This session will explore case studies into the forces that have influenced various health care providers into consolidation or closure, placement within the public markets and private equity, and the prevalence of insurance companies purchasing up providers at an unprecedented rate. It considers what might be in store for mental health and how providers can understand macroeconomic trends and corporate, political and investment interests to position with proactive strategies for success.
Learning Objectives:
Explore state regulations (e.g., Certificate of Need), and the drivers of financial success, scale and overhead that contribute to pressures for efficiency, lean operations and/or consolidation.
Identify specific examples of key performance indicators/financial ratios and data tracking relative to financial and operations management (i.e., what metrics shareholders track for public markets or private equity).
Analyze the pros and cons of independence versus collaboration/consolidation and various moral and ethical considerations for the future of health care.
