    This session will introduce Overdose Safety Planning as a proactive approach to overdose prevention, focusing on person-centered care and secondary prevention strategies. Attendees will learn how this innovative tool is being implemented across Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) to equip frontline teams with the skills to support individuals at risk. The session will also explore how adopting overdose safety planning helps CCBHCs meet criteria for secondary prevention and population health strategies.

    • Describe the key components and steps of Overdose Safety Planning, emphasizing its role as a proactive, patient-centered intervention for preventing overdose events in different clinical settings.
    • Identify how Overdose Safety Planning aligns with CCBHC goals to promote secondary prevention, prevent overdoses, and manage populations with substance use disorders effectively.
    • Develop strategies to implement and operationalize Overdose Safety Planning within CCBHCs, enhancing organizational readiness and compliance while improving patient care and reducing overdose risks across communities.
