MHFA18 - tMHFA: Stats, Stories, and Successes

The co-founders of the Maya Gold Foundation, based in Ulster County of New York, will share insights from their analysis of the pre and post-survey data from their tMHFA training in the Hudson Valley. This will include both quantitative data and qualitative feedback from teen participants.

Madison County Rural Health Council will share valuable tips and tools for effectively coordinating and instructing tMHFA in rural schools and communities in Central and Upstate NY. Attendees will learn standards for successful implementation of the teen MHFA curriculum and the importance of collaboration and the meaningful impact of tMHFA on teens.

Learning Objectives:

Training efficacy. Understand the self-reported efficacy of the tMHFA training by successful completers and how post-training behaviors align to curriculur objectives.
Student feedback. Understand the ways in which student participants in the tMHFA training provided qualitative feedback following the training and how tMHFA impacted their lives.
Student safety and wellness. Learn how to efficiently track teen data from exit tickets and manage student requested check-ins to their school's mental health team.
Importance of relationship-building for program implementation and sustainability. Learn best practices to effectively build and maintain relationships with community leaders, school administrators, mental health team, and school staff to grow and sustain tMHFA programming year after year and maintain student wellbeing.
Scheduling teen sessions. Learn tips, insights and lessons learned when scheduling teen sessions while maintaining program fidelity, including sick and emergency days, and which subjects in schools work best. Each school has unique needs and scheduling is never the same across school districts. There are many moving parts and it takes a lot of coordination, trust and collaboration.
